INGREDIENTS AND SKIN CARE GOALS

Jojoba Oil hydrates the skin and has antioxidant & anti-inflammatory properties. It is helpful in reducing redness and calming skin. As a wax ester, jojoba oil mimics natural sebum, so it helps condition & seal in moisture, softening and smoothing your skin. When combined with beeswax, it also helps protect the skin barrier, reducing trans-epidermal water loss and sealing in moisture.

Shea Butter contains linoleic, oleic, stearic, and palmitic fatty acids that are quickly absorbed into the skin, and help restore lipids and create moisture. This helps restore your skin's barrier that holds in moisture. It is also antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant & anti-inflammatory all while helping to boost cell regeneration. NOTE: It is technically a tree nut, and though it is low in the proteins that typically cause a nut allergy reaction, it can in very sensitive individuals.

Cocoa Butter is a rich fatty emollient that provides a protective barrier on the lips to help retain moisture

Beeswax is antibacterial and anti-inflammatory, and will help help seal in moisture without clogging pores.

FORMULATION

All HANDS products are anhydrous, meaning they are made without water. This allows formulations to be made without preservatives, emulsifiers or thickeners. As a result, these products may be a thicker/less watery consistency than commercial products you with which you are accustomed. 
This also allows the active botanicals to be more available to your skin, and presents the cleanest formulas possible.
As a result, extra care also needs to be taken to not allow water to enter the jar. *Please see USAGE & CARE below.

fat marshmallow is quite simply, a whipped tallow skin fluff- a whipped body butter. It is the most pared down & simple of our recipes: tallow, a bit of beeswax, infused with vanilla bean & marshmallow root, with no additional colors or fragrances, plus just a dash of arrowroot added to keep it from being too greasy upon application. 

While you may be rooted in old ideas, you are not, in fact, a plant, nor are plant oils what your mammalian skin craves. While they can feel initially moisturizing, over time they interfere with your skin's own sebum production, causing your body to produce even less, keeping you trapped in a cycle of dependency. Tallow, coming from our bovine brethren, is molecularly much closer to the oils your body produces, so it delivers a moderate and pH balanced boost, even gradually helping to heal the skin, causing you to need less over time. We source our tallow from local, regenerative agriculture farms. Our glass packaging is upcycled, post consumer glass, processed by and purchased from Philadelphia non profit Bottle Underground We use only essential oils & absolutes to scent, plants & clays to color our products. We never use synthetics, soy/coconut/palm oils.

These candles come in 12-ounce matte glass jars. Only high quality, FDA-approved and sustainably sourced natural beeswax blend wax, premium fragrances and wooden wicks are used in these candles. They are also paraben, phthalate and toxin free.  Topped with a decorative pine lid, each candle measures 4.25" tall x 3.75" wide and have a burn time of up to 60 hours! Made in small batches and hand poured in Connecticut. 

To prevent fire and serious injury:

Always trim wick to 1/4 inch before lighting and keep debris out of wax pool. Never burn longer than 4-hour intervals. Set candle on heat-resistant surface and avoid drafts. Always burn within sight and extinguish before leaving room. Don’t burn near things that catch fire. Keep away from children and pets. Don’t extinguish with water.
