Giving Tuesday may have passed, but the spirit behind it does not need to be limited to a single day. As we move through the end of the year and look ahead to the next, this is often a moment of reflection. What kind of world do we want to help build, and who is doing the work to get us there?
At Reboot Eco, our mission has always been rooted in the idea that small, thoughtful actions add up. Whether it is choosing lower-waste options, supporting local producers, or investing in community education, we believe meaningful change happens when people come together around shared values.
With that in mind, we wanted to highlight a few nonprofit organizations doing impactful work right here in Connecticut. These are groups we deeply respect and whose missions align closely with our commitment to environmental stewardship, education, and long-term community well-being. If you are looking for causes to support as the year wraps up, or even early in the new year, we hope you will take a moment to learn more about their work.
The Rockfall Foundation
Environmental education and conservation in the Lower Connecticut River Valley
The Rockfall Foundation has been a cornerstone of environmental conservation and education in our region for nearly a century. Founded in 1935, the Foundation works to promote wise environmental stewardship, thoughtful planning, and a meaningful connection to nature now and for future generations.
Through grantmaking, educational programming, and community partnerships, The Rockfall Foundation supports nonprofits, schools, and municipalities working on conservation, sustainability, and environmental education. Their programs range from symposia and workshops to film series, family hikes, and collaborative forums that bring people together around shared learning and action.
The Foundation is also the steward of the historic deKoven House in Middletown, which serves as a community and environmental center and provides space for other environmental organizations to collaborate and grow. Supporting The Rockfall Foundation means investing in education, innovation, and a healthier relationship between people and the natural world.

RecycleCT
Advancing waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting statewide
RecycleCT focuses on one of the most pressing challenges of our time: how we manage materials and reduce waste. Established as a result of state legislation, RecycleCT works to increase Connecticut’s diversion of solid waste through education, research, grants, and statewide promotion of better materials management practices.
Their work supports municipalities, schools, businesses, and organizations with educational materials, data-driven research, and funding opportunities that make waste reduction and recycling more effective and accessible. By encouraging smarter systems, not just individual behavior, RecycleCT helps create structural change that benefits communities across the state.
For anyone passionate about moving beyond wish-cycling and toward real, measurable waste reduction, RecycleCT is doing critical behind-the-scenes work to make that possible.
CT NOFA (CT Northeast Organic Farmers Association)
Strengthening organic agriculture and a just, sustainable food system
CT NOFA works to ensure the growth and long-term viability of organic agriculture, organic food, and organic land care throughout Connecticut. Their vision is a healthy, organic state rooted in ecological responsibility, social equity, and economic sustainability.
By supporting farmers, gardeners, land care professionals, and consumers, CT NOFA plays a vital role in expanding access to organically grown food, preserving farmland, and educating people about the power of their choices. Their work helps protect soil, water, air, and biodiversity while creating opportunities for both new and experienced farmers to thrive.
If you care about where your food comes from, how it is grown, and the future of local agriculture, CT NOFA is an organization making tangible and lasting impact across the state.
Giving Beyond a Single Day
Supporting nonprofits does not have to happen on a specific date. Donations, memberships, volunteer time, and even simply sharing an organization’s work all help sustain these efforts throughout the year.
As we close out this year and look ahead to the next, we invite you to consider how your values might align with the missions of these organizations, and how your support in any form can help strengthen the communities and ecosystems we all rely on.
Thank you for being part of a community that believes in care, connection, and collective impact.

I am currently, or have previously been, a board member or board-affiliated volunteer with the organizations listed above. While this naturally shapes my perspective, this post is shared in the spirit of highlighting organizations whose missions closely align with the values we hold at Reboot Eco.
